Anyone who is keeping up with NXT will know that at TakeOver: New York, Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole with face off for the vacant NXT Championship. This comes after Tommaso Ciampa sadly had to drop the title due to injury.
Although Gargano, being originally penned to challenge his long-time friend and rival for the title, seems like a clear favorite, Cole has recently pointed out something on his Instagram account that may tip the scales in his direction.

Cole states:
“Not only will I become the new #NXTChampion when #TakeoverNewYork comes to a close, but I will be the first ever #TripleCrown winner in @wwenxt history. Everything works out just the way it should. #UndisputedERA #AdamColeBayBay #ShockTheSystem”
The leader of the Undisputed Era has already held the NXT Tag Team Championships thanks to the Freebird Rule, retaining them at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans over last year’s WrestleMania weekend. Not only that, however, but he also became the inaugural NXT North American Champion at that same event.
With both titles listing Cole as a previous victor, the NXT Championship is the last bit of gold on the brand that he is yet to claim. If he does manage to beat ‘Johnny TakeOver,’ Cole will become the first Triple Crown winner the black and gold brand has ever seen.
The promotion has clearly been high on him ever since he joined. He debuted during a TakeOver main event, is the leader of a faction, is heralded as the next Shawn Michaels backstage and, as previously mentioned, has already held multiple titles.
If Cole wins at TakeOver, it could keep Gargano out of the title picture until Ciampa’s return while starting to make good on the ‘Panama City Playboy’s promise that every title in NXT will end up on the Undisputed Era’s waists in 2019.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Undisputed… damn, I wish I was as cool as him.
Oh, I should also point out that if Johnny wins, he would actually become the first NXT Triple Crown Champion having won the Tag Team Titles with Ciampa and the North American title earlier this year. He just didn’t make a thing about it on Instagram so he doesn’t make the headline.
