Adam Cole has commented on the report stating that WWE pitched for him to be a manager on the main-roster if he re-signed with the company.
The Wrestling Observer recently reported that one pitch for if Cole stayed with WWE would’ve had him act as Keith Lee’s manager on either Raw or SmackDown.
Speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Cole noted that he hadn’t heard this plan before. Looking to the future, Cole said:
“I personally have never heard anything regarding that. I touched base a little bit on how my meeting with Vince McMahon went really well. We talked for about 30 minutes. He had a lot of complimentary things to say.
“As far as hearing that specific thing, that was not something I heard about. My four years with NXT was fantastic. My four years with WWE was awesome, but at the end of the day, I wanted to end up with AEW. Now that I’m here, I’m stoked.”
Cole debuted for AEW at All Out on September 5, aligning himself with The Elite following the main-event. Cole also detailed the precautions taken by the promotion in order to keep his pay-per-view appearance a secret.
The former NXT Champion has revealed that he decided he wanted to join AEW days before All Out.
