Triple H promised an epic announcement tonight on NXT for Adam Cole’s TakeOver: Portland opponent. It might not have lived up to the hype of Triple H, but Tommaso Ciampa has been announced as the number 1 contender.
On the show, Tommaso Ciampa was seen backstage holding a pipe, the lead kind, not the smoking kind. He then proceeded to wipe out Roddy Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish.

Ciampa continued down to the ring, dragging a table along with him. He grabbed a mic and said he’s going to be bringing Goldie home in Portland.
He technically never lost the title and relinquished it due to injury. Adam Cole came out. He had already signed the contract.
He marched down to the ring and attacked Ciampa with the mic. Cole actually split Ciampa Open. However, Ciampa wouldn’t be down for long.
Another day at the office.

He popped up and kicked the title into Cole’s head. Ciampa would then slam Cole through the table.
He grabbed the contract and signed it. He then wiped blood on the contract. Ciampa closed the segment by holding the title high in the ring.
While many were hoping for some kind of epic surprise, Ciampa makes a lot of sense. Will Triple H pull the trigger on a title change or will Cole continue his reign on into 2020.
