Adam Page Wins AEW World Championship At Full Gear 2021

Adam Page emerged from the AEW Full Gear 2021 pay-per-view main event as the promotion’s new World Champion.

A multi-year, multi-layered story reached its pinnacle tonight as Page beat his former tag team partner Kenny Omega to win the top title in AEW.

The Young Bucks, Omega’s allies, came to ringside, but made the choice to not interfere in the match and watched on as Page nailed Omega with two Buckshot Lariats for the win.

Over two years ago at All Out 2019, Page was unsuccessful against Chris Jericho to become the inaugural AEW World Champion, and what followed was a roller coaster of a ride up until tonight.

That roller coaster included a tag team title reign with Omega, before Omega turned on him after they lost the title and beat him at Full Gear last year in the World Title Eliminator tournament final, soon after which he became the World Champion and held the title until tonight.

The Dark Order, who had befriended Page after he lost his relationship with the Elite, celebrated with him in the ring to close the show.

Page is the fourth AEW World Champion in promotion’s history, after Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley and Omega.

The match, and presumably Page winning the title, was originally supposed to take place at All Out on September 5, but Page took time away after his wife had given birth.

Despite the arrivals of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and more during Page’s absence, AEW stuck to the plan and he was crowned champion tonight instead.
