WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce has shared a thank-you message for SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, addressing his absence from Saturday Night’s Main Event.

With Pearce not in the building for the May 23 special, it was up to Nick Aldis to be the on-screen authority figure for both brands on Saturday night.

Aldis notably announced a championship match during the show, informing Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch that she will defend her gold against Sol Ruca at Clash In Italy on May 31.

Adam Pearce has now addressed this, thanking Aldis for handling business while he was dealing with personal matters.

Anticipating a run-in with the Women’s Intercontinental Champion on Monday, Pearce noted the following at the end of his WWE Raw mini-preview:

“Really quick, I just want to say a big thank you, shoutout to my compadre on SmackDown, Nick Aldis, for handling things at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“I was not in Fort Wayne, I was handling personal business. Tricky Nicky came through, and I do appreciate it, which leads me to probably a very long Monday, dealing with one Becky Lynch.”

This Women’s Intercontinental Championship came about following the abrupt end to Lynch and Ruca’s match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with Lynch pushing referee Jessika Carr into the path of Ruca’s Sol Snatcher.

This resulted in Carr disqualifying Lynch after just two minutes of non-title action.

There has already been a lot of speculation about the result of the Clash In Italy title match. While it would make a lot of sense to see Becky Lynch finally get her comeuppance and see Sol Ruca win gold on the main roster, WWE could be building up to Lynch losing at a bigger event such as Money in the Bank or SummerSlam.

Becky Lynch has already taken to social media to state that she cannot believe that Sol Ruca is being “rewarded” with this title match. You can read her full comments right here.
