The relationship between AEW and NWA is clearer after Cody Rhodes discussed the likelihood of a crossover show.
AEW have became the talk of the wrestling world recently, forming partnerships with NJPW and IMPACT Wrestling. According to Cody Rhodes, AEW may enter another business relationship in due course.
On the AEW Revolution media call, Rhodes was asked about the current relationship between AEW and NWA. Rhodes praised AEW President Tony Khan for his ability to open doors, but emphasised that building trust takes time.
Rhodes remained optimistic about their future, stating that he thinks an AEW-NWA crossover is on the cards. Here is the quote, courtesy of Sean Ross Sapp:
“Cody is asked about NWA-AEW’s relationship. Cody says that Tony Khan is great about opening doors and treading peacefully with other companies. It takes trust and time. He’s sure there will be more crossover.”
Rhodes has history with NWA, fighting for their World Championship at in 2018 at All In. AEW and NWA have traded talent in the past, most notably with Thunder Rosa defending her NWA Women’s Championship twice on AEW Dynamite last year.
AEW look forward to their Revolution 2021 show on March 7. NWA have just announced their next pay-per-view, Back for the Attack, for March 21.
