Current Champion Teases Potential AEW Double Title Match

A current AEW champion has teased the prospect of a double-title match across Tony Khan’s wrestling empire.

Athena, the current ROH Women’s World Champion Athena posted an image of her championship alongside the AEW TBS Championship on Twitter, with the simple caption of:

Athena defeated Mercedes Martinez at ROH Final Battle in December 2022, ending Martinez’s 220-day reign as undisputed ROH World’s Women Champion.

The current AEW TBS Champion is the undefeated Jade Cargill.

Cargill defeated Ruby Soho in January 2022 to become the inaugural AEW TBS Champion.

She has held the championship for 379 days (at the time of writing) giving her the longest reign for any championship in AEW history.

It was recently revealed by Cargill that her match producer has been Billy Gunn.

In December 2022, Athena addressed the backstage reaction to her October match on AEW Dark: Elevation against Jody Threat.

The match caused controversy on Twitter with some commentators suggesting that Athena was “too stiff” with her opponent.
