AEW Backstage News On Influence Of Tony Khan

Some details on the influence that the AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has on the product the promotion puts out have come to light.

PWInsider reports that the tag team Battle Royal that opened this past Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite was envisioned, laid out and put together by Khan.

Also involved in putting together the match were BJ Whitmer and QT Marshall, and the Young Bucks acted as the “glue” between producers and talent.

Another interesting note is that Khan came up with the idea for Sammy Guevara to hold up cards to cut promos with during picture-in-picture ad breaks.

Darby Allin has now adopted that technique for promos since he ‘lost his voice’ when Guevara jammed his throat against his skateboard a few weeks back.

Allin returned to get revenge this past Wednesday. The call for the lights to go down before he came out to the ring was also a Khan directive.
