A new report has revealed the AEW backstage reaction to CM Punk’s Instagram post.
On Thursday, Dave Meltzer took to the Wrestling Observer message boards, sharing information regarding the booking of CM Punk vs. Jon Moxley match heading into last year’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.
Later that day, Punk took to his Instagram stories to respond to Meltzer’s claim, blasting the company, Tony Khan, Moxley, Chris Jericho and more in a post that was quickly deleted.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided an update, noting that sources within All Elite Wrestling have now lost confidence that Punk would be returning to the company following his March 23 post.
CM Punk does remain under contract with AEW, and there is no confirmation whether or not there was ever a suspension or pay docking involved. Traditionally, AEW has paid out wrestlers while they’re injured regardless.
As previously reported, the report also provides an update on Punk claiming Tony Khan wanted him to wrestle while not being medically cleared.
Also, it provides further news on the rumored backstage heat between CM Punk and Jon Moxley regarding the build to their All Out encounter.
Many further details on the CM Punk/AEW issues have emerged along with this report – check out all the updates at this link.
