Some details on how people in AEW have reacted to Kevin Owens opting to re-sign with WWE have been revealed.
Fightful Select reported that Owens signed a new multi-year contract with WWE, with his contract having been set to expire in just over a month.
This is despite a lot of speculation, as well as teases from Owens himself on social media, that he may have been heading to AEW.
According to Fightful’s report, talent in AEW didn’t think that the promotion would realistically have matched WWE’s offer, which was said to be “excellent”.
Having said that, people in AEW did believe there would have been interest in bringing him in had he let his contract run out.
Kevin Owens had specifically teased joining the Young Bucks and Adam Cole to reform the Mount Rushmore faction from PWG.
Owens is currently involved in the WWE Championship picture on Raw, and will compete in a four-way match for the title at the Day 1 pay-per-view on January 1 along with Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, and defending champion Big E.
