‘A Lot Of Money On The Table’ Says Former AEW Star AEW

Arriving in AEW to much anticipation, a now-former star has suggested there were missed opportunities when plans didn’t work out.

The trio of Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish had made a name for themselves on the independent circuit,

O’Reilly and Fish were known as reDRagon in Ring of Honor and New Japan.

This pairing would be joined by Cole in WWE in 2017 where they would form The Undisputed Era.

All three would part ways with WWE in 2021, Fish when he was released in August and O’Reilly when his contract expired in December.

Bobby Fish had recently described The Undisputed Era as “Triple H guys”.

Joining AEW in October 2021, the hopes were high for Fish, especially with Cole in the company and O’Reilly joining later in the same year.

Whilst reDRagon would reform, the critical acclaim that they’d had in previous incarnations seemed to evade them, despite being in a company that included the likes of The Briscoes and The Young Bucks.

Speaking on the Fightfu’s Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Fish reflected:

“I feel like with AEW, especially with Adam and Kyle, once we were there and history that we had — with let’s say like the Bucks and you could even roll the Briscoes — there was a lot of money on the table that I hoped we would visit, and it just didn’t go that way.”

The Young Bucks, in particular, had a lot of history with Fish, Cole and O’Reilly, having worked with them in NJPW and Ring of Honor between 2014 and 2017.

There had been apparent plans for Fish, Cole & O’Reilly to face The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega as AEW sought to get its Trios Championship Tournament underway.

This plan wouldn’t materialise, however.

Among the obstacles to success in AEW that Fish would encounter was Cole’s concussion-related absence from TV and O’Reilly undergoing neck fusion surgery.

Fish’s contract would eventually expire.

He would head to Impact Wrestling in September 2022.
