AEW Botches New Trademark Application?

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) appears to have botched a recent trademark application filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).

AEW’s recent trademark filing has fuelled speculation that the promotion is planning to launch another show or brand. On February 15, the company filed to trademark ‘AEW COLLISON’.

Eagle-eyed fans will notice that if whoever was filing the trademark tried to spell ‘collision’, they failed, missing out an ‘i’.

Per the trademark filing, AEW plans to use this term for ‘educational and entertainment services’ related to a ‘continuing program about wrestling’.

The following description accompanied the filing:

Educational and entertainment services, namely, a continuing program about wrestling accessible by radio, television, satellite, audio, video and computer networks; Entertainment services in the nature of live wrestling performances;

Entertainment services in the nature of production of wrestling programs and events; Entertainment services, namely, an ongoing multimedia program featuring wrestling distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media;

Entertainment services, namely, an ongoing series featuring wrestling provided through television and the internet; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of wrestling

AEW currently has four weekly programmes, with Dynamite and Rampage airing on TV through TBS and TNT, and Dark and Dark: Elevation premiering each week on YouTube.

Tony Khan is scheduled to make a big announcement on the February 22 edition of Dynamite, which many have speculated will be related to the trademarked term… or at least the term that was intended to be trademarked.
