AEW Tag Team Signed To ‘Lucrative Longer Deals’ Despite Lack Of TV Time AEW

A member of an AEW tag team has revealed that they have been signed to ‘lucrative longer deals,’ despite a lack of TV time.

The Blonds (formerly the Varsity Blonds), Brian Pillman Jr and Griff Garrison, have mostly been competing on AEW Dark since signing in 2021.

Their televised appearances have been sporadic, to say the least.

While speaking to Wrestling Inc., Brian Pillman Jr discussed his lack of TV time.

He said:

“That’s just the nature of the beast.

“We all want stuff to happen right away.

“But they did sign me and Griff to some lucrative longer deals, so it’s not like there isn’t food on the table.

“But there comes a certain aspect where you start to get hungry for more and you want to get back in the spotlight.”

Pillman Jr added that he still has a “few more years left” on his initial AEW contract.

Despite his booking with AEW, Brian Pillman Jr didn’t seem to be bitter about his opportunities with the promotion.

He said:

“…And a lot of my work, I’m just starting to take more pride in because no one else will for you.

“No one else is going to give you that push. You got to kind of push yourself sometimes.”

The Blonds’ last televised match was during the October 7 edition of AEW Rampage.

Pillman Jr and Garrison were defeated by Tony Nese and Josh Woods. It was after this match that Nese & Woods became known as the Varsity Athletes, and Pillman Jr & Garrison had the ‘Varsity’ dropped from their team name.

Their last AEW Dynamite appearance was during the August 17 edition.

The Blonds featured in a squash match against Austin and Colten Gunn of the Gunn Club.

Pillman Jr was not tagged in the match, and the Blonds were defeated in 30 seconds.
