AEW’s Britt Baker Criticises WWE’s Developmental System

AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker has criticised WWE’s developmental system in a new article released today.

WWE has had a shift in philosphy in recent times, with more of a focus on signing young athletes that can be moulded into the WWE way of ‘wrestling’, rather than signing actual accomplished wrestlers.

In a comment to the Washington Post, Britt Baker said:

“I don’t think putting a bunch of models and athletes off the street in a warehouse and teaching them all to do the same thing the same way at the same time is going to create a successful roster. People learn differently and they have different strengths and weaknesses, and sometimes you have to find out what those are on your own.”

WWE released 18 wrestlers yesterday, half of which were in NXT. It’s been reported that WWE plans to assess NXT talent every six months, and will consider releasing anyone who hasn’t made enough progress in that time.

Baker is set to defend her championship against Tay Conti at Full Gear on November 13.
