AEW
A major AEW broadcast partner is to undergo major changes, with the division of its business operations being revealed.
Since May 2019, AEW has seen its Dynamite show air on Warner-owned platforms, initially airing on TNT and now on TBS.
With previous reports that Warner Bros Discovery was being split into two publicly traded companies, the names of the new companies have been revealed.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming and studios company will be named Warner Bros, and the global networks company will be called Discovery Global.
The Hollywood Reporter wrote:
Warner Bros. will include the Warners film and TV studios, DC Studios, HBO and HBO Max, and the TCM cable channel.
Discovery Global will include the former Discovery and Turner linear channels, including TNT, TBS, CNN, Cartoon Network, Discovery, Food Network, and HGTV. It will also include the company’s international TV channels, and the Discovery+ streaming service.
David Zaslav, who was instrumental in negotiating AEW’s most recent media deal with Tony Khan, will oversee Warner Bros. while Gunnar Weidenfel will lead Discovery Global.
HBO Max has served as the streaming platform for AEW content since January this year and has recently undergone a name change of its own, having previously been known as “Max” before reverting back to its original name.
Tony Khan has previously revealed that a third entry in AEW’s weekly televised programming is “something to consider“.
