Absent AEW Star Shares Injury Update AEW

An absent AEW star has shared an update on their recovery progress as they continue to rehabilitate an injury.

Buddy Matthews was last seen in action back in February of this year, challenging Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Continental Championship at Grand Slam Australia.

During the match, Matthews suffered an ankle injury that later required the star to undergo surgery to repair.

With surgery having taken place in August, Matthews has now shared an update on his progress as he works towards an in-ring return.

Sharing a video in the gym on Instagram, Matthews revealed that he still has ‘restricted ankle mobility’, stating:

UPDATE: Today was the first time since surgery to hit a hack squat – still very restricted with ankle mobility but working on it daily!

Numbness is still a factor, but hopefully subsides in the near future, but still unknown at this time.

Swelling depends on the amount of rehab I’ve done that day, but easily maintained with icing post.

The video sees Matthews working on his ankle, before doing some work on the aforementioned hack squat machine, then showing the surgically repaired ankle.

Matthews previously was a member of Hounds of Hell alongside Brody King who has since teamed with Bandido to form Brodido.

One-half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions, King has commented on the future of his tag team with Matthews.

At the time of writing, a timetable for Buddy Matthews to return to AEW is unclear.

WrestleTalk wishes Matthews well as he continues his rehabilitation journey.
