AEW Star Wins Championship Amid Almost Year Long TV Absence AEW

AEW’s Ricky Starks has won a new championship during his almost-year long absence from TV, amid speculation about his future.

There has been a lot of rumors swirling about what could be next for Ricky Starks, who hasn’t wrestled for AEW since March 2024.

Starks has now won a notable title during his AEW hiatus, winning the DEFY World Championship at DEFY Hundredth – 8 Year Anniversary.

The AEW name defeated KENTA to win the gold at Friday’s (February 7) show, ending KENTA’s historic title reign.

KENTA was the longest reigning champion who defended the gold, holding the DEFY World Championship for 616 days.

Ricky Starks last wrestled on AEW TV during the March 30 edition of Collision, teaming with Big Bill in a losing effort against Dante Martin & Darius Martin of Top Flight in the AEW Tag Team Championship Tournament quarterfinals.
