AEW’s Matthew and Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks have reacted to a change made to their NJPW Wrestle Dynasty title match.
The Young Bucks’ NJPW in-ring return was first announced in October, with it eventually confirmed that they’d be challenging for the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
The upcoming match has underwent a number of changes since it’s initial announcement, with champion Henare pulled from the bout after suffering an injury, and Great-O-Khan revealing that he’ll still compete, but with a mystery partner.
We got a big development on this match after Wrestle Kingdom 19, when three names were officially added to the mix.
Not only was Jeff Cobb confirmed to be Khan’s tag partner, World Tag League 2024 winners Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi have been added to the bout, with the duo exercising their right to challenge for the gold.
The Young Bucks have now taken to Twitter to react to there two vs two IWGP Tag Team Championship match becoming a tag-team three-way bout.
Sharing a post recapping the news, the Young Bucks simply wrote:
Wtf
NJPW shared the following updated preview:
After their highly emotional singles encounter on January 4, Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito were quick to get back on the same page as a team.
The World Tag League winners secured a guaranteed shot at the IWGP Tag titles with their trophy win, and have exercised that right for Wrestle Dynasty.
As Great-O-Khan has revealed his partner for Dynasty to be the Imperial Unit Jeff Cobb, and both teams are joined by the returning Young Bucks, who will be 106th champions?
This match will be the Young Bucks’ first contest in NJPW since January 2019, excluding Forbidden Door events.
A heavily praised star notably dropped his championship at Wrestle Kingdom amid contract uncertainty, which you can read more about right here.
