A possible double title match has been announced for NJPW Wrestle Dynasty, with the AEW International Title potentially set to be defended.
At NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed, Konosuke Takeshita defeated TJP to retain the AEW International Championship. Post match, Shingo Takagi accepted the challenge for a winner takes all title match.
After the initial challenge, Tomohiro Ishii came out to tease that he would challenge the winner of their winner takes all match.
This led to New Japan Pro Wrestling announcing that Takeshita will face Shingo with both the AEW International Championship and NEVER Openweight Championship on the line, as long as Takeshita is champion come January 4, which you can read about here.
On November 11, NJPW announced that Ishii will challenge either Konosuke Takeshita or Shingo Takagi on January 5 at Wrestle Dynasty.
If the winner takes all match does take place at Wrestle Kingdom 19, Ishii will challenge for both the AEW International and the NEVER Openweight titles in a double title match.
If Takeshita loses the International Title before January 4, the Wrestle Kingdom match will only be for the NEVER Openweight Title, and Ishii will only challenge for the NEVER title at Wrestle Dynasty.
The website description for the match reads:
Also official for January 5, Tomohiro Ishii will take on either Shingo Takagi or Konosuke Takeshita. At Fighting Spirit Unleashed, Takagi challenged Takeshita; the match has been made for the NEVER Openweight Championship but if Takeshita is still AEW International Champion by the time Wrestle Kingdom rolls round, that match will see both belts on the line. Either way, Ishii has demanded to face whoever emerges from January 4, and could well end up with both titles around his waist!
Already announced for Wrestle Dynasty, Zack Sabre Jr. will face Ricochet and Jack Perry will face Yota Tsuji.
