Scrapped AEW Championship Victory Plans Revealed AEW

Following MJF’s shocking AEW Double Or Nothing return, a new report has revealed scrapped AEW championship victory plans.

At AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, former AEW World Champion MJF made his return to the company for the first time since December 2023.

Confronting and laying out his former tag team partner Adam Cole, Maxwell Jacob Friedman then cut a return promo where he confirmed that he had signed a new deal and wasn’t leaving All Elite Wrestling.

After the brief confrontation with Cole, many fans were wondering whether the two former friends will be meeting in a bout following their split last year.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that there were plans for MJF and Adam Cole to wrestle in late 2023.

The report notes that Cole was considered for a possible title victory to be the man who dethroned Friedman for the AEW World Title. However, Cole’s ankle injury suffered at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2023 set off a chain of events that altered those plans.

MJF instead dropped the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End in December 2023.
