Chris Jericho Reveals The Number One Thing In Wrestling AEW

AEW’s Chris Jericho knows a thing or two about professional wrestling having performed for the biggest companies in his 30+ year career.

With this in mind, and given his consistent ability to reinvent himself to be at the vanguard of the business across multiple decades, he has recently revealed what he thinks is the most important thing in wrestling.

Speaking on the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, Jericho explained:

“Wrestling is all character.

“The moves are important, and the matches are exciting, but you have to connect with the audience.

“It’s just like comedy, or acting, or anything. You have to connect with the audience.

“If you can do that to a high level, the audience will pay to see you, and they’ll be interested in what you’re doing.”

Character isn’t the only thing that Jericho feels wrestlers should focus on, going on to state:

“That’s the number one thing of wrestling — it’s storytelling.

“There’s gonna be some crazy matches, [where] the athleticism is through the roof, but the stories behind them are the most important thing.”

He would acknowledge that “wrestling is all things to all people” with no single answer.

Despite competing in some intense angles, he would also discuss his love of comedic wrestling, including the song-and-dance routine between himself and MJF (that you can watch below this news story).

That said, Jericho’s legacy of creativity surely speaks for itself.
