Update On Ace Steel’s Involvement In CM Punk-Led AEW Collision AEW

With the news that CM Punk will return to the company for AEW Collision, the future of Ace Steel has now also been revealed.

It had previously been reported that negotiations between CM Punk and AEW for his return had hit the rocks over the subject of Ace Steel.

As per the previous report, Tony Khan was on board with rehiring Ace Steel, but having him work remotely and not allowing him to be backstage at AEW shows although Punk wanted Steel backstage.

This caused the delay of Punk being announced at all for Collision, but after talks that reportedly involved NDAs, things seem to be all systems go.

Steel’s involvement in the new Saturday night show may now have been clarified with Meltzer writing in the current issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) that it is believed Punk and Steel will be “heavily involved in creative” for AEW Collision.

Meltzer goes on to say that they’ll be involved in “at least” Punk’s story and the “main angles and storylines” for the show will revolve around the returning star.

The debut episode of AEW Collision will take place on June 17 in Punk’s hometown of Chicago at the United Center, with Punk’s presence officially confirmed by Tony Khan on Wednesday Night (May 31) during AEW Dynamite.

As recently reported, it was revealed ticket sales for the show had risen about 700 in the hours after the announcement with the venue making and extra 1,535 seats available for fans eager to see the show.

Ace Steel was released by AEW following the events of the post-show All Out press conference in September 2022 but was reportedly rehired months ago.

At the time of the news of Steel’s release, it was reported that in the aftermath of the behind-the-scenes brawl, CM Punk, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson were suspended whilst the fracas was investigated.
