AEW Stars Believe CM Punk Could Be Fired After Backstage Fight AEW

UPDATE – News on CM Punk’s status for this week’s Dynamite following the incident at All Out has come to light – read more at this link.

An update has emerged on the backstage reaction to the physical altercation allegedly involving CM Punk following All Out.

After CM Punk’s verbal tirade targeting Colt Cabana, Hangman Page and the AEW EVPs during the All Out post-show media scrum, Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega and Matt & Nick Jackson were all reportedly involved in a backstage fight. Per previous reports, Punk threw punches at at least one of the Young Bucks.

An update via the Wrestling Observer stated that multiple sources alleged that Punk started things by swinging fists at Matt Jackson. Ace Steel allegedly threw a chair, that hit Nick Jackson in the eye. This report added that Steel also allegedly ‘bit Kenny Omega and grabbed his hair’.

According to a new report from Fightful Select (subscription required), several longtime AEW stars have now said they don’t understand how Punk couldn’t be let go after this. Fightful also noted that there appear to be conflicted views on who started it, with a source stating Omega and Young Bucks ‘aggressively’ approached Punk’s locker room.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted no-one in AEW is allowed to talk about what happened due to ‘pending legal issues‘, stating that this is not a work.

We will continue to provide updates on the situation as they become available.
