A former WWE name has shared their thoughts on CM Punk and what he brings to the business ahead of a return to AEW.
With CM Punk largely expected to make a return to Tony Khan’s company to lead the new Saturday night show AEW Collision, the AEW owner has played down the speculation.
This hasn’t slowed the rumor mill however with previous reports suggesting that Tony Khan’s announcement on the May 17 episode of AEW Dynamite will be heavily related to Punk’s return and the new show.
Former WWE official Mike Chioda has weighed in on the importance of CM Punk to the wrestling business on his Monday Mailbag with Mike Chioda, saying:
“At the end of the day, it’s about the business. It’s about money.
“CM Punk will provide you with one hell of a show. Every time he goes out there, he gives it 110%.
“His promos are phenomenal whether it is shoot or work, and most of them are shoot. I’ve always loved CM Punk.”
Chioda would go on to the discuss challenging attitudes behind the scenes, stating:
“There’s a lot of guys in this business over the decades that have attitudes. They just stand up for what they feel in the business, whether they’re making money or not…
“You’re gonna put 50 guys in the locker room and not all are going to get along… Personalities clash.”
With ticket sales for AEW All In up to 10pm ET on May 14 at 65,979 tickets had been distributed (estimated 61,346 paid), Chioda would also comment on the need for CM Punk at the Wembley Stadium show in London, recommending AEW are:
“gonna need CM Punk there to draw that crowd.”
At the time of writing, CM Punk’s return hasn’t been announced, let alone an appearance at AEW’s debut show in the United Kingdom.
