What Warner Bros Discovery Has Been Told Regarding CM Punk AEW Return AEW

With recent news that CM Punk has been in talks with AEW about a potential return, further details of how the return may look have emerged.

Fightful Select first reported that a return was on the cards, along with the fact that Punk was set for a meeting with Chris Jericho to determine whether they’d be able to work together after their previous issues.

Dave Meltzer later reported that also in that meeting would be Tony Khan, FTR, and potentially others. It’s unknown when the meeting would take place.

It was also recently reported by Meltzer that a new AEW show on Saturday nights (potentially called AEW Collision based on trademark filings) would heavily involve a returning Punk.

Andrew Zarian has now provided further details on Wrestling Observer Live, specifically from the Warner Bros Discovery side of things, saying:

“I know for a fact that Warner has been told he is coming back. They are very much aware of the situation.”

Dave Meltzer has reported, and Zarian mentioned too, that along with Punk being on the Saturday show, the idea would be to present that show on the same level as Dynamite.

Fightful had reported that the June 21 Dynamite show at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago was a likely destination for Punk to return, or at least sometime around that show.

It has also been said by Fightful that Tony Khan is planning a roster split in the near future for Dynamite and the new show in order to keep talents who have issues away from each other.

It’s been speculated that Punk’s return may not be a ‘surprise’ on the night, but actually announced in advance, possibly at the Warner Upfront on May 17.
