Arn Anderson Reflects On Cody Rhodes AEW Departure

Arn Anderson Reflects On Cody Rhodes AEW Departure AEW

Former AEW name and WWE Hall of Famer has reflected on the departure of Cody Rhodes from Tony Khan’s company.

Following a successful independent wrestling run, Rhodes was pivotal in the inception of AEW and remained with the company until February 2022.

He would be joined by Arn Anderson in August 2019 at AEW All Out with the Four Horsemen member acting as his personal advisor and head coach.

Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022 with Anderson remaining in AEW until his contract expired in May 2024.

Speaking on Foundation Radio, Anderson opened up about Rhodes’ departure from AEW, saying:

“With the history I had with Dusty, and then Dustin, and then Cody, and the position he was in and when he left, you know, people… it took a few weeks for people to realize, ‘Yeah, he’s really gone,’ you know?”

Anderson would describe the pairing with Rhodes as an “incredible run”, admitting that some of their work pushed the envelope.

Among them was Anderson burning Rhodes’ clothing and threatening to shoot him.

In September 2021, Anderson cut a promo comparing their reactions to a hypothetical carjacking with the idea that Rhodes would just hand over the vehicle.

Anderson commented on the now infamous promo and his mindset going into it on AEW Dynamite.

Arn Anderson appeared at WWE SummerSlam in August 2024 to support Cody Rhodes ahead of his Bloodline Rules match with Solo Sikoa.

Rhodes would go on to win the match, retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship, with match highlights below this news story.

Also backstage at the show was Anderson’s son and former AEW star, Brock Anderson, with the pair sharing a photo with Triple H.
