AEW
There’s a change coming to the March 22 episode of AEW Collision due to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Typically a two-hour show airing on TNT and Max, the upcoming show will see that run-time split over two nights.
With “March Madness” fast approaching, it has been revealed that the first hour show will air on March 22 with the second hour show following on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Dave Meltzer revealed the rationale behind the show split during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.
Speaking about the decision to air the show as two separate blocks instead of start at 11pm on Saturday and running through to 1am the following day, he said:
“The idea is rather than do a two-hour show with the second hour being from midnight until 1 am where the ratings would fall, they are going to give them one hour each night coming right after the tournament game.
“So in theory they should get two big ratings. The Saturday rating should be big, the Sunday rating because it’s unfamiliar, maybe not, because AEW usually doesn’t do well with unfamiliar time slots.”
The upcoming episode of AEW Collision will be taped at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, March 19.
It was previously reported that Tony Khan remains at the head of AEW creative, although Jon Moxley has been instrumental in the direction of his Death Riders storyline and RJ City has been guiding the course of Toni Storm and Mariah May.
The report also noted that Khan is said to have been “in the weeds” more creatively as of late.
