First AEW Continental Classic Matches Officially Announced AEW

The 2024 AEW Continental Classic starts on November 27 and the first matches for the tournament have been officially announced.

The upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite will see the start of the tournament with competitors split into the Gold and Blue League in matches with a twenty minute time limit.

As previously reported, the Gold League will feature Will Ospreay, Juice Robinson, Brody King, Ricochet, Claudio Castagnoli and Darby Allin while the Blue League includes Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Daniel Garcia, The Beast Mortos, Mark Briscoe and Shelton Benjamin.

Tony Khan took to Twitter to confirm the first three matches in the Continental Classic revealing that Darby Allin will take on Brody King in Gold League action.

Khan’s second match announcement would be for the Blue League with Mark Briscoe facing Shelton Benjamin.

The final announcement (at the time of writing) is another Gold League match with Ricochet taking on AEW World Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli.

Ricochet and Castagnoli were both in WWE, although their paths didn’t cross in the ring there, with three matches having taken place in CHIKARA and PWG.

Will Ospreay has commented on his inclusion in the Continental Classic following his defeat at the hands of Kyle Fletcher at AEW Full Gear.

The AEW Continental Classic debuted in 2023 with Eddie Kingston being victory in the inaugural tournament.
