Two AEW stars are apparently set to join WWE with it being reported that a deal has likely been reached or is very close.
On September 19, it was reported that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix of the Lucha Bros were seemingly on their way out of AEW.
The reported noted that the deal was either done or was very close with WWE marketing “given the green light” to produce merchandise for the pair.
It was also reported that the pair are “said to be signing a multi-year deal” that would see them arrive in WWE on its main roster.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has shed light on The Lucha Bros’ arrival in WWE, stating that one half of the team may have a roadblock in the way of their expected move.
Penta is confirmed but we knew that all along. For Fenix to come in, that would mean Tony Khan allowed him to leave early as Fenix was out for a year due to injuries that would be added to his contract.
Meltzer had previously commented on Fenix’s injury as a potential concern in his departure of AEW with the star out of action from October 2023.
In August, Fenix tweeted a message amid speculation of a move to WWE, posting:
“THE BEST TAGTEAM IN ALL UNIVERSE, YOU, YOU AND YOU KNOW IT, ALL YOU KNOW IT, FROM MÉXICO THE LUCHA BROTHERS! #AN1M0”
It had also been reported that the Lucha Bros were seeking a “package deal” to bring them both into WWE on the main roster.
Matt Hardy recently discussed the possibility of the pair arriving in WWE, saying it would “be huge“.
