Two new deals that AEW has recently offered have seemingly come under fire from WWE according to a recent report.

It was recently reported that Swerve Strickland’s new deal saw the former AEW World Champion accept what is “considered one of the biggest deals in company history.”

Daniel Garcia, who made his return at AEW All In, is under contract until October and is reportedly ‘in discussions with the company‘.

WWE has previously shown interest in both parties, with it also being reported that WWE “made a play ” for Strickland and Prince Nana, while interest in Daniel Garcia is already well-known.

Dave Meltzer has provided further insight into WWE’s reaction to the money being offered by AEW in their new deals, and how WWE personnel have called them ‘bad for the sport’.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer focused on the signing of Strickland and the offer made to Garcia, writing:

“The (Strickland) deal, and the offer to Daniel Garcia, were told to us by someone on the WWE side for Garcia and more than one on Strickland, as being bad for the sport because they are so far over what would WWE would perceive the market value for both to be, with the idea he’s spending more than he needs to and raising salaries.

“The reality is WWE can afford anything. Even if the new TV deal is high, AEW still has to spend with some caution or the idea they’ll be so profitable than will erase the first six years of losses won’t be the case if they get out of control on spending.”

In a previous Fightful report on Strickland’s re-signing, it was stated that the deal would keep him in AEW “until at least 2028”, with Meltzer now noting “this deal locks him up through September 2029.”

As for Daniel Garcia, Tony Khan shared his thoughts on the returning star during the AEW All In post-show media scrum.

Khan has previously been critical of WWE’s recent tactics, believing they are spreading misinformation regarding AEW’s broadcast negotiations.
