The contracts of former AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party (Zay & Quen) are reportedly set to expire “very soon’.
Eight months ago Private Party finally captured the AEW World Tag Team Championships after five years of trying, dethroning long-time rivals The Young Bucks at AEW Dynamite: Fright Night on October 30, 2024.
While the title win was a cathartic one for Zay & Quen, as well as the fans that have followed them since joining AEW in 2019, their reign as champions saw the pair defend their titles just twice before dropping the belts to The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin on January 22, 2025.
With that match also being the last time either Zay or Quen competed on AEW programming, a new update has emerged regarding their status in the company.
According to Dave Melter in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Private Party’s AEW contracts are set to expire in the near future.
Meltzer wrote:
Private Party’s deals are up very soon.
As mentioned both Zay & Quen have been with AEW since the company’s inception in 2019, being featured at some of their earliest events including the first Fyter Fest and All Out, as well as the first episode of AEW Dark and second ever Dynamite.
While their last match on AEW TV came in January, Zay & Quen did compete for independent promotion House of Glory at their City of Dream event on March 15.
We will provide more updates on the contracts of Private Party as more information becomes available.
