Upcoming AEW Crossover Match For Wrestle Dynasty ‘Canceled’? AEW/NJPW

Ahead of the Wrestle Dynasty event, a new announcement has revealed an upcoming AEW crossover match has been “canceled.”

On December 5, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced HENARE has suffered a knee injury during the World Tag League tournament.

United Empire’s Great O Khan made an announcement backstage at the December 6 NJPW World Tag League event.

O Khan announced that he and HENARE have vacated the IWGP Tag Team Championships due to his partner’s injury.

The NJPW star also stated that the United Empire duo’s scheduled match with The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty has been canceled. O-Khan said (via Tokyo Sports):

“We were the sole leader in the WTL and were the closest to winning. However, [HENARE] was injured the day before the final match and lost everything.”

“I will probably have to give up the belt. The January 5th Tokyo Dome will also be canceled,”

The NJPW World Tag League 2024 tournament will conclude with Los Ingobernables de Japon’s Tetsuya Naito and Hiromu Takahashi facing Gabe Kidd and SANADA of the Bullet Club War Dogs in the finals on Sunday, December 8.

It remains to be seen how NJPW will handle the vacant IWGP Tag Team Championships at the time of this writing.

WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on The Young Bucks’ NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty match when they become available.
