AEW Crowns First Ever Women’s Champion On Dynamite

Tonight on AEW: Dynamite, Riho took on Nyla Rose to determine the first ever AEW Women’s Champion.  Nyla Rose was the heavy favorite heading into the night.

However, many fans were pulling for Riho to pull the upset.  Riho is a pet project of Kenny Omega and does a great job of playing the underdog.

The match took a bit to get going.  In fact, it was definitely a bit rough at the beginning.

Nyla Rose took control and really worked over Riho.  Riho spent quite a bit of time locked in an STF.

However, Nyla messed up by grabbing some chairs and missing a senton from the apron to the floor.  Riho began and impressive comeback.

We got near fall after near fall. Ultimately, Riho hit a massive superplex.

She followed up with double knees to the face and back.  Riho wins.

Riho is the new and first ever AEW Women’s Champion.  The crowd went nuts.

Michael Nakazawa came out to congratulate Riho and interview her.  However, Nyla went on the attack.  She took out Nakazawa.

She tried to take out Riho, but Kenny Omega made the save.  This can only be considered a major upset.

Riho was definitely over as a massive baby face and it seems AEW is set to capitalize on her popularity.
