A current champion has opened up on setting a major new record this week.
Athena has reigned as the Ring of Honor Women’s Champion since December of 2022, when she defeated Mercedes Martinez for the belt at ROH Final Battle.
Athena has held the title ever since the event, and this week she made history, when her title reign surpassed Samoa Joe’s 645 day ROH World Championship reign from 2003-2004, making her the longest reigning champion in the history of the brand.
Taking to Twitter, Athena commented on her major new milestone, saying:
.@ringofhonor I have tried to write this a billion times and figure out the right words to say and i still dont think i know what to say…
But it boils down to this I am thankful for my minions that have supported me. I am thankful for all the trolls that give me the motivation to prove them wrong. I am thankful to every hussy I have beaten along the way to show everyone that I am the THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!
