AEW’s Daniel Garcia Wins PWG World Championship AEW

AEW’s Daniel Garcia won the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) World Championship during Sunday’s (May 1) ‘Delivering The Goods’ show.

Garcia defeated Bandido for the gold after a competitive match, defeating the luchador via submission with a sharpshooter. Bandido had held the title for 863 days before his reign was ended.

The new champion had previously won the Battle of Los Angeles 2022 tournament in January.

Garcia is currently signed to AEW, and is affiliated with the Chris Jericho’s ‘Jericho Appreciation Society’.

AEW had reportedly pulled several names from indy shows slated for Sunday, following a scheduling conflict, with JD Drake, Dante Martin and Wheeler Yuta notably pulled from the ‘Delivering The Goods’ line-up ahead of the event.

Here are the full results from the event (via F4WOnline):

  • Jack Cartwheel def. Shane Haste
  • Aussie Open (Kyle Davis and Kyle Fletcher) def. World Class Wrecking Crew (Royce Issacs and Jorel Nelson). After the match, Aussie Open challenged PWG World Tag Team Champions Malakai Black and Brody King to a future match. The WCWC replaced The Briscoes, who pulled out of the show due to a family emergency.
  • Jonathan Gresham def. Kevin Blackwood
  • Konosuke Takeshita def. Aramis.
  • Taurus def. Blake Christian
  • Biff Busick def. Speedball Mike Bailey. Busick came to the ring wearing a Super Dragon mask and was billed as Super Dragon. After the match, Busick took a shot at Dragon and said that he wanted a shot at the PWG Championship.
  • Daniel Garcia def. Bandido to win the PWG Championship. After the match, Garcia challenged Konosuke Takeshita to a match at the next PWG event. Takeshita said he would be the next champion.

Garcia’s most recent AEW match was against Eddie Kingston on the April 22 edition of Rampage.
