Real Reason CM Punk Didn’t Main Event At All Out Revealed AEW

An AEW star has revealed the reason that he didn’t main event at All Out for CM Punk’s first match in the company.

CM Punk’s first match in AEW took place at All Out in 2021 and would see him face and defeat Darby Allin.

This wasn’t the only landmark moment for AEW on the September 5 show, however, with both Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson both debuting on the night.

Ruby Soho would also debut at All Out 2021, winning the woemen’s Casino Battle Royale.

With so much going on, Allin recently reflected on his belief that he was going to main event with Punk.

Speaking on Drinks with Johnny, Allin looked back on the show and how things changed from what he thought was going to happen, saying:

“You’re correct (Allin re-confirmed to the podcast host that he was not the main event of All Out 2021).

“I think it’s because (Bryan) Danielson and Adam Cole debuted that night, because I was for sure we were gonna be main eventing and then I was like, there’s gotta be a catch here.

“Lo and behold, there it was.”

CM Punk made his AEW Debut on The First Dance episode of Rampage, challenging Allin to a match at All Out after a seven-year retirement from wrestling.

Although he hasn’t been seen on TV since the events of the AEW All Out media scrum in September 2022, Punk is widely expected to be the focus of the upcoming AEW Collision show that debuts in Chicago on June 17 2023.

On Sunday, May 28, Darby Allin faces the other pillars of AEW with all four man fighting for the AEW World Championship currently held by MJF.
