AEW Star Admits Pro-Wrestling Isn’t His #1 Passion AEW

For one AEW star, the thing that they are paid to do isn’t what they would consider their number one passion.

The AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin made the claim n a recent appearance on the Hawk vs Wolf show discussing his love of skateboarding, saying:

“I haven’t skated in like three weeks because I was filming this intro video for the Seattle show and I tried this rail and got annihilated on it, so I’ve been waiting to skate for like three weeks. Dude, it’s so hard to balance out pro wrestling and skating.”

He would go on to explain:

“It feels weird to say but it still feels like skateboarding is my number one passion and wrestling is number two even though I get paid for [wrestling].”

Allin would also reveal that it isn’t like he hasn’t tried to shift his focus towards the thing that makes him money, going on to state:

“I was like, ‘Alright, this is what you have to do. You can’t afford to get hurt.’ And I was so depressed and I didn’t know why.

“I was like, ‘Man, why am I so depressed?’ I picked up the board again and I was like, ‘This is why!’

“So, like I said earlier, there’s no contract that people could pay me money-wise to quit skateboarding.”

There’s no doubt that there are upsides to finding something that you can embrace to improve your mindset, and that’s clearly what skateboarding is doing for Allin.

Whilst it may be good for his mind, however, he would reveal which is harder on the body – skateboarding or wrestling – concluding:

“On your body and everything, by far, skateboarding. It’s insane how, with skateboarding, every week, I was getting broken ankles and stuff.”

Allin signed with AEW in April 2019 and has gone on to become one of its key players, being a two-time AEW TNT Champion.
