AEW
An AEW star has pitched a rematch against a star from another company that they feel has been “years in the making”.
Deonna Purrazzo officially signed with AEW in early 2024, following a career that saw her perform in WWE, TNA Wrestling and across the independent scene.
Reflecting on a past Ring of Honor match, the former ROH Women’s World Champion seemed interested in revisiting an encounter from back in 2018.
Over on Twitter, a fan account shared footage of Purrazzo vs. Mayu Iwantani from ROH in 2018, with the AEW star responding:
“A rematch that’s been 7 yrs in the making 👀”
The match saw Iwatani defeat Purrazzo in the quarter-final of the ROH Women of Honor Championship Tournament.
Iwatani would move to the semi-final of the tournament, losing to Kelly Klein the following month.
The Japanese star is currently signed to Dream Star Fighting Marigold, the all-women promotion founded by Rossy Ogawa, previously of Stardom.
With Marigold hosting WWE stars, it was previously announced that Iwatani would face IYO SKY on October 26.
Purrazzo was recently in action on ROH on HonorClub, defeating Angelica Risk in a Pure Rules match, continuing her undefeated streak under that stipulation.
