AEW Star Removed From Roster, Departure Confirmed AEW

A huge update has emerged on Malakai Black’s AEW status, with Black now removed from the official roster page.

UPDATE: Two more AEW stars are also gone from the company – click here for the latest.

Following previous reports that Black was expected to be leaving AEW, as of Monday (February 10) his name no longer appears on the official roster page on AEW’s website.

PWInsider has now confirmed that Black is a free agent, reporting that his contract expired on Sunday (February 9).

Black hasn’t wrestled for AEW since the November 2024 Full Gear pay-per-view, where he and Brody King challenged for Private Party’s AEW Tag Team Championship in a four-way title bout.

It had been reported in January that people within the company were of the belief that Black was finishing up with AEW.

Black has since wrestled for Coastal Championship Wrestling (CCW), defeating Orion at their January 11 Havoc & Haze 9 event.

Malakai hinted that he will continue to appear for CCW after the match, noting that he and Orion will continue their mentor/student rivalry.

We will continue to provide updates on the situation so keep an eye on WrestleTalk.com for the latest news.
