AEW Star Reflects On ‘Difficult’ Years After Major Win AEW

Following his huge win at AEW Double or Nothing, a top star has reflected on the ‘difficult’ couple of years which led up to that moment.

Hangman Adam Page defeated Will Ospreay in the finals of the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament, in the main event of the May 25 pay-per-view.

With an AEW World Championship match now set for AEW All In on July 12, Page has spoken about the significance of his victory.

Speaking during the AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Page reflected on a ‘difficult’ couple of years as he sought success, saying:

“This means so much to me. These past two years have been so difficult.

“Recently MJF said to me that he thought, deep down that I would never win the World Championship again. You know, he’s wrong all the time, he’s a dumbass, but he was right. I’ve been afraid I would never hold the World Championship again or even come close.

“This is as close as I have been in three years now and this means the world to me.”

Looking back at his lack of success in a meaningful way, Page went on to saw that he didn’t know what he’d do had he lost at Double or Nothing, explaining:

“…For two years I haven’t won anything, anything of note really. Not a tournament, not a championship and the one thing I did win was unsanctioned and it didn’t feel like winning you know?

“This was a light at the end of the tunnel for me. If I didn’t get this, if I didn’t win this, I mean I truly needed it because I didn’t know what I was going to do with myself. But I do know what’s in front of me and I know this isn’t the end of it this is just the beginning.

“I think for so long I’ve been looking backwards but I think now I’ll have the chance to look forward to something.”

Hangman Adam Page goes on to face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at the upcoming All In pay-per-view.

Along with being a former AEW World Champion, Page has held the AEW World Tag Team Championship with Kenny Omega.

The 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament final also took place at AEW Double or Nothing, with Mercedes Mone defeating Jamie Hayter.

The victory for Mone will see her challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In Texas on July 12.
