Top Star Needed Special Permission For Crazy AEW Double Or Nothing Spot AEW

A crazy AEW Double or Nothing spot wasn’t just something that was planned at the last minute, with a special licence being required.

During the May 28 show’s main event, Anarchy in the Arena saw The Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page & The Young Bucks) taking on Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta).

Crazy plans had been promised and crazy moments were delivered.

The match would see Matt Jackson deliver an exploding superkick (footage of which can be seen below).

Dave Meltzer has now revealed what was required to make the moment happen and just how long it had been in the making.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Matt Jackson had conceived the exploding superkick spot “about a month ago.”

Meltzer also revealed that Jackson wanted to “do something that hadn’t been done”.

The spot would require Jackson to get a Nevada State Fire Performers license.

The license is required for any performers who use pyrotechnics as part of their presentation.

Following the Anarchy in the Arena match, it was revealed that there were no injuries beyond the usual cuts and bruises.

Matt Jackson also recently revealed the current state of his arm as well as his reason behind refusing surgery upon suffering the injury.
