AEW made multiple subtle, but also not really at all subtle, references to CM Punk on tonight’s Fight For The Fallen show, teasing his potential first opponent in the promotion.
AEW had been hyping up an announcement from Tony Khan all week regarding AEW live events. That announcement was that the August 20 episode of AEW Rampage will eminate from the United Center in Chicago, titled ‘the First Dance’.
Interesting, right?
What was more interesting is that AEW immediately cut from the announcement to Darby Allin and Sting in the back, where Darby spoke about him proving himself in AEW, even if you are the ‘Best In The World’.

Of course, this is still all speculation and just AEW playing into the rumours until it is officially announced that Punk has signed with the promotion.
