The Cody Rhodes vs Sammy Guevara ladder match from AEW Dynamite Beach Break was awarded a five star rating by Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer newsletter.
In the opening match of Wednesday’s special, Guevara ascended the ladder to be crowned the undisputed TNT Champion. He had previously won the interim TNT Title at Battle of the Belts after it was announced that Cody Rhodes was unable to compete at the event.
Meltzer awarded a five star rating to the match in this week’s Observer. This marks Guevara’s first five-star rating of his career. Cody Rhodes had previously been awarded a five-star rating from the Wrestling Observer for his emotional battle with Dustin Rhodes at AEW Double or Nothing 2019.
In addition, this is the highest rated AEW match of 2022 so far per the Wrestling Observer, beating out Hangman Page vs Bryan Danielson from the January 5 episode of Dynamite, which received a rating of 4.75 stars.
