AEW Dynamite Draws Impressive Viewership Following CM Punk Return

The viewership figures for the August 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, featuring CM Punk, have now been revealed.

As per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, Wednesday’s show drew an average of 1.172 million viewers. This is an increase from the 975,000 viewers who tuned in on August 18.

This viewership was the show’s highest since April 14 episode, which drew 1.219 million average viewers.

In the 18-49 demographic, this week’s show received a 0.48 rating, which roughly equates to 620,000 viewers in the demo. This is the second highest rating in AEW Dynamite history, behind the October 2019 premiere episode’s 0.68 rating.

This week’s edition of Dynamite was the first since CM Punk’s AEW Rampage appearance. Making his Dynamite debut, Punk cut a promo and teased Daniel Bryan’s AEW arrival. Following the show, Punk returned to the ring to address his fans.

Also on the show, it was announced that Chris Jericho and MJF will do battle at All Out on September 5, and if Jericho loses, he will no longer wrestle for AEW. Britt Baker vs Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s Championship was also made official for All Out.

A state-wide indoor mask mandate has been announced for Illinois, ahead of the September pay-per-view.
