A French Canadian broadcaster will not be carrying AEW Dynamite in 2023 according to a Facebook post, citing “budget constraints”.
The announcer Jean-François Kelly broke the news on Wednesday, saying (translated to English):
“It’s been exactly 25 years since I’ve been in RDS.
“This decision (that I can understand) by management to cut AEW wrestling show is the hardest one for me to take.”
The news would be confirmed by RDS themselves.
La Lutte à RDS posted the news on Thursday after AEW Dynamite, saying (in the translated post):
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us tonight and the past few weeks.
“Sadly, Dynamite tonight was our last broadcast of AEW in French on RDS.
“Due to budget constraints, we unfortunately won’t be back in 2023.
“Thanks again to everyone who has joined our fall dates, see you next time… let’s hope so.
“The wrestling team in RDS.”
AEW Dynamite was broadcast on RDS from August 2022 with live commentary in French.
When it wasn’t able to broadcast live, the program would be carried on the RDS website.
