The viewership figure and demo rating for Wednesday’s (December 28) New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS has been revealed.
Per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, Dynamite drew 876,000 viewers. This is down from the December 28 Holiday Bash edition that drew 957,000 viewers.
In the key 18-49 demographic, Wednesday’s program scored 0.28 rating. This is also down from the week prior that scored 0.30 rating.
Both the total viewership and demo rating were affected by Dynamite going head-to-head against college bowl games. AEW ranked #5 on cable in the demo for the night.
The show featured The Elite defeating Death Triangle in a Falls Count Anywhere Match 6 of the best of seven series to force the Escalera de la Muerte Match 7 on January 11.
Also, Samoa Joe defeated Wardlow to retain the TNT Championship in the main event. Post match, Darby Allin attacked Joe to set up a title match next week.
