Scrapped AEW Dynasty Match Plans Revealed

Scrapped AEW Dynasty Match Plans Revealed AEW

AEW Dynasty takes place on April 6, 2025, with a number of matches already announced for the card, with an unannounced match being changed.

Dave Meltzer has revealed that a match is yet to be confirmed although is very much the plan for the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania pay-per-view.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer states that Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin vs. Big Bill & Bryan Keith hasn’t been made official but is currently planned for the show.

This wasn’t the original plan, according to Meltzer, who stated that the AEW World Tag Team Championship was supposed to be defended by The Hurt Syndicate (Lashley & Benjamin) against Murder Machines (Brian Cage & Lance Archer).

Meltzer explains that plans changed after Cage suffered an injury at OWA Pro Wrestling on March 20 in his match against Chris Masters.

At the time of the injury, the match hadn’t been announced for AEW Dynasty, with the currently scheduled match also yet to be announced.

The upcoming show will see Jon Moxley defend the World Championship against Swerve Strickland while Toni Storm defends her AEW Women’s Championship against Megan Bayne.

Elsewhere on the show, Kenny Omega defends his AEW International Championship in a three-way match against Ricochet and the recently signed Speedball Mike Bailey.

There’s also AEW World Trios Championship action as Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) defend against Rated FTR (Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood & Cope).

Chris Jericho will also be in action, defending the ROH World Championship in a title vs. mask match against Bandido.
