AEW Star Pulled From Show Due To Injury AEW

An AEW star has been pulled from an upcoming show due to an “undisclosed injury”, being replaced by a current champion.

Eddie Kingston was the scheduled opponent for Gabriel Kidd at the upcoming NJPW Collision in Philadephia on April 16.

According to an update on the official NJPW site, Kingston will be unable to compete due to an “undisclosed injury”.

Taking his place to face the NJPW LA Dojo graduate will be the current AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy.

With Cassidy set to face Buddy Matthews on the April 12 episode of AEW Dynamite for the International Championship, a victory for Cassidy will see him put the championship on the line in Philadelphia.

Kidd joined the NJPW Dojo in September 2019 and started working as a “young lion” in January 2020.

He was set to spend five months in Japan leading to a return to the NJPW LA Dojo in May 2020 but ended up staying in Japan due to COVID.

He would graduate from a young lion in December 2021 and took part in the NJPW World Tag League 2022 & Super Junior Tag League 2022 in Japan as well as maintaining an active schedule of bookings in his native United Kingdom.

In March, he took part in the Impact Wrestling x NJPW: Countdown To Multiverse United: Only The STRONG Survive facing Yuya Uemura in a losing effort.

Eddie Kingston and Gabriel Kidd have crossed paths previously, as can be seen in the episode of NJPW STRONG below this news story.
