Who Pitched ‘Long Term Storytelling’ AEW Entrance Music Change Revealed AEW

Backstage news has emerged on Claudio Castagnoli’s new AEW entrance music, with the original pitch for the theme change revealed.

Castagnoli made his AEW debut in June 2022 using a ‘Uppercut Swingphony’ entrance theme sampling the classical music piece 1812 Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

This was slightly adapted into his Uppercut Overture theme in 2023, before his most recent entrance music change.

Following Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Pac and Marina Shafir betraying Bryan Danielson, Castagnoli has debuted his new “Uppercut Moonlight” entrance music which samples Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata in addition to 1812 Overture.

AEW music composer Mikey Rukus has now revealed that Castagnoli had pitched incorporating Moonlight Sonata into his new entrance theme.

Discussing the long-term storytelling in the entrance music, Rukus wrote:

I’m so thankful that Claudio suggested Moonlight Sonata. It was shortly after mapping out what I wanted to do that I got hit with the idea to merge 1812 along with it. Giving it the long term storytelling it deserves. Its heartfelt, dark, and tragic.

I’m not sure a wrestling theme has ever been done with a fusion of 2 classical songs as one (if so please tag in the comments).

You take risks without fear- for the art and arc of the story. And from Uppercut Swingphony, to Uppercut Overture, to now Uppercut Moonlight. This is a true honor. 🙏🏽

Castagnoli appeared on AEW Collision Grand Slam (September 28) with this entrance music, with Castagnoli, Pac and Wheeler Yuta defending their AEW Trios Championship against Komander & Private Party.
