AEW Files Interesting NJPW-Related Trademarks

AEW have officially filed for trademarks relating to the “Forbidden Door”.

First mentioned by Hiroshi Tanahashi on the road to Wrestle Kingdom 14, the Forbidden Door refers to the pipeline between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Although the door remained shut after Chris Jericho defeated Tanahashi in early 2020, it has well and truly been opened, with NJPW star KENTA appearing on the two most recent episodes of AEW Dynamite.

AEW have officially applied for trademarks relating to the Forbidden Door. This has wildly fuelled speculation that AEW and NJPW will share talent, especially after reports emerged that the two companies have agreed on a deal.

As per the United States Trademark and Patent Office, the application for the “Forbidden Door” trademark was filed on February 8. It would allow AEW to use the phrase for the categories of “bandanas; Hats; Headwear; Pants; Shirts; Shorts; Socks; Sweatshirts; Undergarments; Jackets; T-shirts”, as well as throughout all their media platforms.
